That blue door out front still stands as a reminder of where it all began.

The Blu Door -home, history, and heart.
The space you walk into today was once my grandfather’s repair shop. After he passed away, I knew I couldn’t let it become just another building with no story. That shop held so many memories, so much laughter, and so much of him. So with the help of family we transformed it into The Blu Door — a name inspired by the original blue door of Shorty's Cycle.
My grandpa, known by everyone as Shorty, was so well loved in our community. He had a way of making people feel welcomed, whether they stopped in for a repair or just to talk. Keeping his spirit alive in this space means everything to me.
The blue door you see today is the very same color he had — I just put a fresh coat of paint on it. I couldn’t bring myself to change it. That door stood through decades of hard work, stories, and community connection. Now it stands as a small but meaningful tribute to him and gives our business its name.

Hi! We’re Alicia, Luke, and our kids — the family behind The Blu Door and we’re so glad you’re here.
This shop is more than a business to us — it’s part of our family story. When it was my late grandfather’s motorcycle shop, Shorty’s Cycle, my brother and I spent countless days here, even climbing through the bike tires that lined the front room, turning Grandpa’s shop into our very own playground. Back then it was motorcycles and tools — today it’s handmade goods, local makers, and community gatherings, but the heart of it has always stayed the same.
Continuing my grandfather’s legacy is something I carry with pride. Now we’re raising our own kids in the same space that helped shape my childhood. Luke works alongside me, our kids are learning the value of hard work and small business, and you’ll often see my dad and grandmother helping or hanging around the shop too.
The Blu Door is truly family owned and operated — past and present woven together under one roof. From our family to yours, thank you for being part of our story.
